Career Stories

What it's like to be a part of Team Bosch.

Just before summer, my friends at NORD DDB reached out for help with a project for their client, Bosch. The task? To create twelve new Career Stories for their website. With an existing format in place, my role was to interview employees from various parts of Bosch’s operations and write about their lives and experiences with Bosch as an employer. It was a rewarding assignment, filled with great conversations and insights. I crafted all twelve stories in English as the master version and translated them into Swedish.

Below is Maria's story. You will find all the stories here.

This is Maria's story:
Maria Schier, Product Manager

"Working with the latest technologies and market standards and bringing them together into the cockpit of a car is exciting."

Reflecting on her five years at Bosch, Maria shares her experiences and challenges in the automotive business. “When I started at Bosch, I didn’t know much about the automotive business and the EE (electrics/electronics) architecture in modern cars. My background is within mobile telecom engineering HW and SW product development and now I work with Product Management for Bosch Mobility. The biggest challenge at Bosch has been understanding the big EE system architectures and especially the interaction of the different EE blocks of vehicle computers. Another challenge has been understanding the big organization and which team contributes to what parts of the big system.”

Maria finds great satisfaction in her work at Bosch. “Working with the latest technologies and market standards and bringing them together into the cockpit of a car is exciting. Plus, I get to work with very competent people and learn new things in these tech areas every day.”

One significant advantage of working at Bosch, according to Maria, is the autonomy she enjoys. “I can steer my work throughout the day. While I attend many meetings, the way I conduct my work is largely based on my ideas.” The best advice she’s received is from her husband: “Try not to worry too much about next week, live more day by day, and do something that you like to do each day. I try to live by that.”

Bosch’s values align closely with Maria’s personal beliefs, making them come naturally to her. “Diversity, equity, and inclusion are important to me, but there is some room for improvement. We have a significant diversity of people from different countries, but I wish we would recruit more women. Often, I am the only woman in meetings, apart from one female colleague in Germany.”

When asked to praise a coworker, Maria mentions Torbjörn Eklund. “He is always very supportive, polite, and respectful to others and helps other Bosch teams with software integrations.”

Currently, Maria is working on showcases for the next cockpit domain controller, Nessy3 Fusion, for Bosch Experience Days. As a Product Manager, Maria’s role involves coordinating with teams in Germany and the U.S. to define use cases for the market and realize them on prototype vehicle computers. “We aim to identify use cases that align with market trends and implement them on our prototype vehicle computers. These prototypes are designed to run Infotainment, Cluster, and ADAS features on a single system-on-chip solution.”
